The Year 7 boys’ football team have had a fantastic start to the season and remain unbeaten as I write. There have been some outstanding performances and each of the lads that have played have done so with a great spirit and attitude - they are a joy to manage!
In their very first game as De Lisle students, they beat Woodbrookvale, 6-2, and followed this up with a 13-0 victory over local rivals, Charnwood College. The boys then defeated Limehurst, 8-0, and came from behind to beat Iveshead, 2-1, with a goal in the dying minutes. This set up the league decider against a strong Rawlins side who had also remained unbeaten. A 3-0 victory in this top of the table clash meant that the boys finished as district league winners and a place in the last 16 of the county cup against Babington College. The boys continued their winning ways with a 2-1 victory, earning them a place in the quarter finals which will be contested before Christmas. Well done to all of the boys involved and to everyone who continues to train and play in the inter-house competitions!
A big well done must also go to the Year 8 and Year 9 football teams.
After 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss the Year 8 team finished third in their league. The Year 9 team have fought an undefeated league campaign with a number of convincing wins and have made it through to the next round of the competition.
