The Chess Club has been a part of extra-curricular activities at De Lisle for many years. Chess has many educational benefits, giving young people skills such as focus, discipline, concentration and strategic thinking.

Thirty keen students from years 7 to 11 participated in the annual inter-house chess tournament which took place every Tuesday during Prep Time in the Library. Those competing had the opportunity to win prizes along the way and points for their houses with the ultimate winner receiving a trophy.

Congratulations to all who entered and to this year's winner, Nathaniel, and runner up Charlie.

The final results are as follows:

1st  -  Nathaniel 9F2
2nd  -  Charlie 9S1
3rd  -  Rebecca 9S1
4th  -  Le 11M1

House Points:

Sherwin  -  33
More  -  25
Fisher  -  25
Clitherow  -  1

Chess ‘friendlies’ also take place on Wednesdays in Prep Time for those who don’t want to compete.
