A group of Year 7 students spent the day at Loughborough University on 9 January 2020, finding out more about what university is and how this links to their current studies. The day started with students taking part in an assessment to identify their learning styles, before them being taken to specific departments on the university campus, including Arts and Humanities, Sport and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), where they were given a tour by academics and current students. The experience gave those Year 7 students attending an overview of university and an understanding of why people decide to carry on their studies at Higher Education level. A similar trip also recently took place for a group of Year 8 students and we will follow this up with a trip for Year 9 students in early April. Year 12 students have also been attending a range of Higher Education ‘Inspiring Minds’ experience days at the university, which will continue throughout the academic year.
