Year 10 STEM Careers: Engineering

Posted on: May 25th 2022College Events

Year 10 STEM Pathway students (those students studying computer science and triple science) have the chance to attend various talks as part of their course.  This week, students had the opportunity to hear from five undergraduate and postgraduate students from Loughborough University’s School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering (AACME).

Ashley (Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering), Holly (Chemical Engineering), Hanzy (Materials Engineering), Huyen (an MSc student who spoke about Bioengineering) and Sam (Bioengineering) gave very informative presentations about these specialisms within the broader engineering field, and made time for the Year 10 students to ask questions.  Questions ranged from ones about the courses themselves, entry requirements and making future subject choices – to those about careers and general student life/finance.

The visitors were great ambassadors for their courses and university, and we hope to follow this talk up with a visit soon – as well as other talks and visits on topics such as medicine and healthcare, mathematics and more.

Students with an interest in engineering can visit:

Students with an interest in other STEM fields can visit three virtual careers fairs, each containing key information, website links, videos, and information about apprenticeships, future courses and job roles:
