A selection of our Y10 and Y12 Psychology and Biology students attended a ‘Brain morning: Neuroscience and Mental illness tutorial” with Dr. Guy Sutton.

Students received expert tuition on a variety of topics that included brain anatomy, open brain surgery, neural plasticity, epigenetics, split brains and even the developing research in neurobionics.

Students were also able to observe Dr. Sutton dissect a sheep’s brain and participate in identifying the similar structures found in human brains. The morning finished with a session on “unravelling the complexities of Schizophrenia” and an exploration of the biological basis of mental illness. The students were enthralled throughout the morning and all inspired by Dr. Sutton.
