De Lisle College 7 – 6 Brockington

Having defeated Brookvale Groby 6-5 in the quarter-final and Lutterworth College 10-2 in the semi-final, the final was set to be a close encounter, with finalists Brockington having defeated Lutterworth College 9-1 earlier in the season. The game started with De Lisle under pressure but converting the little possession they had into a goal on the counter-attack. Growing in confidence, the girls created chances but a great display from the Brockington goalkeeper kept the score close. In the second half, De Lisle enjoyed success on the counter-attack to build leads of 5-3 and 7-4 but had to spend the last 10 minutes trying to keep out a resurgent opposition who threw everything at the girls. In a week of Champions League comebacks for English teams against all odds, the girls were determined to prevent another occurrence and, despite two late goals, De Lisle emerged tired but victorious and were crowned Leicestershire and Rutland County Champions 2019-20.

Notable performances came from the captain, Rachel, in the quarter-final who created and scored all the goals against Brookvale Groby; Ruqaya, who scored a hat-trick against Lutterworth College and Megan, who made some world-class saves in the final. Also Ciara and Frederika who were solid in central defence, Neve and Halle who were influencial in midfield and, again, Rachel who was excellent in providing chances and scoring goals in the final.
