GCSE Results 2019
Students at De Lisle College are jubilant after achieving record-breaking results in this year’s GCSE exams. Feelings of nerves and anxiety were quickly dispelled by euphoria as students opened their envelopes. Despite the increased level of demand of challenging 9 – 1 graded GCSEs, many students swept the board with a raft of top grades at 7, 8 and 9. In English literature, 22 students gained passes at grade 8 or 9; in RE, over a quarter of all entries secured grades 8 or 9. Attainment across a full range of subjects was well above national average values. For example, 77% of all students achieved grades 9 – 4 in maths (national average 60%), whilst in English language, the 9 – 4 pass rate was 72% (national average 62%).
Amongst the highest achieving students at De Lisle College were Amaya, Charley, Ciara, Holly, Niamh, Catherine, Charles, Joe, Neave, Mia and Thomas, all of whom achieved 9 GCSEs at grade 7 or higher, and between them gained an unprecedented 25 grade 9s. All eleven students are eagerly looking forward to beginning their A level studies at De Lisle College next week.
The results this year are a real testament to the hard work of our students, and the high quality support they have received from the staff at De Lisle. We wish all our students the very best of luck as they embark on the next phase of their educational journey.
