This week our Year 10 BTEC Animal Care students enjoyed a visit from the charity ‘Guide Dogs’. We had the pleasure of welcoming guide dog Sean, with his owner Russell, and support dog Ralph, with his owner Kate. Kate is a puppy walker volunteer for Guide Dogs and Ralph helps with the educational side of the charity’s work.
Russell provided an insight in to just how life changing guide dogs are for the blind and visually impaired, whilst demonstrating how the welfare and life of the dog is of the utmost importance. The students learnt about the way the charity promotes animal welfare and discovered why it takes £54000 to look after a guide dog throughout its working life and beyond.
Thank you to Russell and Kate (and Sean and Ralph!) for spending the morning with us and for answering our many questions. You can find out more about Guide Dogs here.
