On Monday 27 February, Regular and Reserve soldiers from the British Army visited the school to hold interactive workshops with groups of students.
Students were given a presentation on careers within the armed forces and the routes into these, followed by talks from chefs and drivers within the Royal Logistics Corps. In the afternoon, in smaller groups, students visited interactive stations where they took part in a ration pack meal-planning challenge, saw equipment, and participated in an interactive VR challenge requiring teamwork and communication.
Students found the workshops to be highly informative, very engaging and interactive. We are grateful to Sgt Coleman, who is based at the Army Careers Centre in Leicester and her colleagues – including those from the Royal Logistics Corps and those based at 158 Regiment RLC, Army Reserve Centre, Loughborough.
Any students interested in armed forces careers are invited to attend an Open Evening, with an accompanying parent/guardian, at the Army Reserve Centre, Loughborough. Sgt R Bowles said “The event runs from 1930 – 2100 Tuesday 11 Apr 23. There will be a number of live demos and static stands, with the opportunity to speak to other reserve soldiers of various ages and experience. Attached is our posters advertising the event. Should anyone want further information, scan the QR code and I will get back to them at the earliest opportunity.”.
