Career Ready
On Tuesday 19 September, De Lisle College Sixth Form students represented both the school and the Career Ready organisation at an event to showcase the positive impact of the programme over the last year. The event was hosted at CEVA Logistics, located on the SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway, and was an opportunity for those involved with the programme and prospective supporters from the business community to come together.
De Lisle student Siobhan acted as MC, announcing speakers, guests and panellists, and speaking to the audience to introduce the event itself. Meanwhile, Ella, Faith and Armaan took part in a panel discussion, held before an audience, alongside business community volunteers who have mentored students. Additionally, Michael and Chloe supported the event’s running, and all students took the opportunity to network professionally with guests and celebrate the success of the programme.
Students have had a range of opportunities offered to them thanks to the programme. Highlights have included masterclasses, monthly 1 – 1 mentor meetings, and the opportunities for paid internships over the summer – which students took up, travelling to Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry and even to SEGRO’s Central London offices.
We look forward to continuing the programme this academic year. Current Year 12 students will shortly be given the opportunity to find out more and apply to take part.
