This morning a group of students from the De Lisle Eco Team travelled to St Paul’s Catholic School in Leicester to exchange ‘eco’ gifts.
De Lisle and St Paul’s are twinned together through our Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, and for the feast day celebration on Friday were asked to exchange an eco based gift. We gave St Paul’s a magnolia tree, which they intend to plant at the front of their school for a warm spring welcome! Our gift from St Paul’s was three fold: some shrubs to plant in our courtyard that are easy to grow and smell great, some bee friendly wild flowers to plant and encourage local wildlife, and finally some compost to help encourage growth. We asked for these gifts as we are just beginning work on the school garden and need some bright colours and hardy plants to help start the process!
Staff and students from St Paul’s were also kind enough to give us a tour of their eco and gardening projects, including raised beds, gardens and a polytunnel. Great inspiration for our Eco Team going forward!
The Eco Team are now delivering prayers to each year group about what they have been working on this term. If any students would like to know more about what the Eco Team get up to, you can join them after school on a Thursday or check the website and newsletter for updates.
