On Friday 9 September we formally welcomed Year Seven to De Lisle in our Year Seven Welcome Mass.

Representatives from every tutor group spoke about the class shields that they had designed, which celebrated our diverse backgrounds; remembered our motto “Do what is right, not what is easy” and celebrated our school mission “I praise you Lord, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

The readings reminded us that we are all united in one body and that God calls us to serve Him. We prayed particularly for peace and for the repose of the soul of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

We are very grateful to Fr Jonathon Cotton for celebrating Mass with us and for his teaching in the sermon. We thank the sixth formers who helped with readings and hospitality for parents and visitors and we thank the staff for helping to organise the Mass and providing the lovely musical accompaniment to the hymns. We thank parents and carers for coming to share this celebration with us.

Welcome, Year Seven. We will continue to pray with you and for you as you worship, learn, value and grow during your time at De Lisle.
