A-Level Spanish

During the course you will study a range of themes and sub themes to help you to communicate effectively across a range of issues:

Social issues and trends: Aspects of Spanish-speaking society: current trends

  • Los valores tradicionales y modernos
  • El ciberespacio
  • La igualdad de los sexos

Artistic culture: Artistic culture in the Spanish-speaking world

  • La influencia de los ídolos
  • La identidad regional en España
  • El patrimonio cultural

The year 12 course builds confidence and provides a solid foundation for the study of the themes and sub-themes in year 13.

Social issues and trends: Aspects of Spanish-speaking society: current trends

  • La inmigración
  • El racismo
  • La convivencia

Political and artistic culture: Aspects of political life in the Spanish-speaking world

  • Jóvenes de hoy, ciudadanos del mañana
  • Monarquías y dictaduras
  • Movimientos populares

In addition, Year 12 students study a film and Year 13 students study a text.

Paper 1: Listening, reading, writing = 50%
Paper 2: Writing = 20%
Paper 3: Speaking = 30%

Minimum grade 5 in GCSE Spanish

This A level would lead directly into subject related university courses and careers, and indirectly into a wide range of higher education courses and career choices.

  • Careers in international relations e.g. Diplomat/Politician
