Paediatric Surgery Careers Talk

On Friday 19 January, students from Years 11 – 13 with an interest in medicine and healthcare were able to hear from two consultant paediatric surgeons about their careers.  As well as this, Mr Owen and Miss Henderson, from Leicester and Leicestershire NHS Trust, provided students with group discussions relating to medical school interviews and the skills needed to be a doctor.  Also as part of the workshop, students were able to try using a laparoscopic surgery training box, which allowed them to understand how keyhole surgery is performed and have a hands-on experience of some of the skills necessary.

We are very grateful to Mr Owen and Miss Henderson for their time speaking to students, answering their questions and for the opportunity to see the training tools in action.
