Year 7 Welcome Mass: A Joyful Beginning

Last Friday, our school community came together to celebrate the Year 7 Welcome Mass, a truly special occasion marking the beginning of a new chapter for our newest students. The Mass was not only an opportunity to seek God’s blessings on our Year 7s but also to reflect on the life and legacy of St. Vincent de Paul, whose feast day was at the heart of our celebration.

St. Vincent de Paul, the patron saint of charitable works, teaches us the importance of serving others with love, compassion, and humility. His example reminds us that true greatness lies in helping those in need, and this message was beautifully woven into our Mass. Our Year 7 students were encouraged to live out his values of service and generosity, both in their new school journey and in their daily lives.

Throughout the Mass, students participated with enthusiasm, proclaiming The Word, reading the prayers of the faithful, altar serving, and joining in the hymns. They were reminded that, like St. Vincent de Paul, they are called to make a difference in the world by showing kindness and compassion to those around them.

This celebration was also a wonderful reminder of our school’s mission, rooted and grounded in the love of Christ, as we strive to form students who are not only learners but also servants to others. Our motto, “Do what is right, not what is easy,” resonates deeply with the life of St. Vincent de Paul, who always chose the path of love and service, even when it was challenging.

A heartfelt thank you to the parents, carers, and staff who supported this celebration. We look forward to walking alongside our Year 7 students as they grow in faith, knowledge, and service throughout their time here at De Lisle.

Let us continue to pray that they are inspired by the example of St. Vincent de Paul, always seeking to serve and love others in all they do.
