We offer the option of specialising in Fine Art or Graphic Communication at A level.
During these courses you will follow a broad and balanced study of art and design which relates theory to practice and encourages creativity, independence and freedom of choice.
In Fine Art you will produce work in areas including drawing, painting, mixed media, photography and printmaking. You will explore a range of materials, processes and approaches, developing your own ideas and personal artistic style through practical experimentation and critical study.
In Graphic Communication you will work in areas such as illustration, typography, layout design, branding, packaging and advertising. You will develop skills in both traditional and digital processes, exploring how images, text and visual ideas can be combined to communicate effectively for different audiences and purposes.
A coursework unit and an exam unit.
60% coursework, 40% exam.

Minimum grade 5 in GCSE Art
This A level would lead directly into subject related university courses and careers, and indirectly into a wide range of higher education courses and career choices.
