Mandarin (IB)

The HSK qualification (Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì) is China’s standardised language proficiency test for non-native speakers. The level 4 qualification gives students who have previously studied Chinese up to GCSE level the opportunity to continue to improve their Chinese reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, while studying their other A level subjects.

The qualification is aimed primarily at enabling non-native learners to communicate and interact effectively in Mandarin in a variety of situations, including daily life, education, the work-place and other social settings. It also introduces students to different aspects of Chinese culture and traditions, which are inherently bound up in the language.
