Physics is challenging. It takes an agile and dedicated mind, and an ability to follow a problem through to the very end. It needs a mind that can find the essential principles and ask the right questions in the right way. It needs a mind that can investigate the universe and understand what happens.
The course consists of:
Advanced Physics 1: Physics on the move.
This unit involves the study of mechanics, electric circuits, further mechanics, electric and magnetic fields and nuclear and particle physics.
Advanced Physics 2: Physics from creation to collapse.
This unit involves the study of materials, waves and particle nature of light, thermodynamics, space, nuclear radiation, gravitational fields and oscillations.
Paper 3: General and practical principles in physics.
This paper can draw on any of the topics in the specification.
There are three papers of weighting:
Advanced Physic 1: 30%
Advanced Physics 2: 30%
Paper 3: 40%
