Career Ready – Workplace Visit and Masterclass
Throughout Year 12, a group of 20 students have been part of the Career Ready programme. This involves regular mentoring from business community volunteers, workplace visits and employability masterclasses. A group of these students will also soon be taking part in paid internships throughout the summer.
A recent highlight of the programme was a visit to East Midlands Airport – one of the largest local employers and part of the Manchester Airports Group (MAG). In the morning, students took part in an interactive quiz, learned more about roles within the organisation and toured the site. In the afternoon, staff from the HR department delivered a masterclass on preparing for interviews. Students were given advice on how to impress at interview, and heard about careers, including apprenticeships and graduate roles, within East Midlands Airport and the wider Manchester Airports Group. All students enjoyed the masterclass, felt more prepared for interviews and better informed about roles at the airport after their visit.
We are grateful to Joanna and colleagues at the airport for arranging this visit.
