Reading and listening

  • Understand phrases and vocabulary when I hear them and respond to questions about what I have heard.
  • Understand phrases and vocabulary when I see them written down and respond to questions about what I have read.
  • Translate text from French to English.

Foundation Writing

  • Write 4 sentences to describe a photo.
  • Write a 40 word response which addresses 4 bullet points.
  • Translate sentences from English to French.
  • Write a 90 word response which addresses 4 bullet points, using 3 tenses.

Higher Writing

  • Write a 90 word response which addresses 4 bullet points, using 3 tenses.
  • Write a 150 word response which addresses 2 bullet points, using at least 2 tenses.
  • Translate a passage from English to French.

What should I do to revise and prepare for this assessment?

To prepare for this assessment:

Reading and listening

  1. Use your ‘livret de vocabulaire’ to revise vocabulary from all units, using the look, cover, write, check method to make sure you know what the words and phrases mean in English.
  2. Work through the unit 6 and 7 unit booklets, completing the grammar and reading exercises.
  3. Use This is Language to practise listening exercises.

Writing

  1. Revise the vocabulary and phrases from the unit knowledge organisers (1-7) using the look, cover, write, check method to make sure you can write the phrases in French.
  2. Revise the 44 fantastic phrases (foundation)/75 fantastic phrases (higher) from the unit 1 knowledge organiser.
  3. Use the ‘livret de grammaire’ and verb tables to practise forming and writing verbs in three tenses.
